I don't know about you but I think that gold, frankinsence and myrrh were naff presents (and very hard to spell too).
I think a set of fish knives would have been more useful.
And some waterproof shoes perhaps.
But then - if they got them from M&S they could always exchange them.

It's an aromatic oil or resin. It was used in both anointing and embalming. The nativity gift was therefore related both to the "priesthood" of Christ and to his death.

And another thing - if we take 25th December as Christ's birthday and we measure the years from Christ's birth - why isn't New Years Day boxing day?
Or maybe he was overdue?
Maybe 25th was the first contraction!

Taking Christ's birth as 4BC or 5BC, I assume? (because, ironically, Biblical sources indicate this to be about the right date.)
