Well it is that time of year again. I have arrived home for 3 days of Christmas celebrations and it is pretty close to unbearable. While I am a vaguely normal adult, at Christmas I seem to retreat into adolesence again. This is the longest I spend at home all year and I am not sure if it is healthy. Is there anyone else out there who finds the Christmas thing trying? Roll on the New YeaR!

I have always worked at Christmas, so I miss most of it. Your post put the song by Kate Bush into my head.
You know that I'll be waiting
To hear your footsteps saying
That you'll be coming home for Christmas.
Please say you won't forget me
That every moment's emtpy
But only 'til you're coming home for Christmas.
If I only had wings
Then I would fly to you
Through all the snowy weather
We'd be together
No one makes me feel the way you do.
You know that I'll be waiting
To hear your footsteps saying
That you'll be coming home
Home for Christmas.

I used to hate it. Emotional Blackmail at it's worst. Years ago I finished work at 5.00pm on Xmas Eve, in Birmingham, and started again at 1.00pm on Boxing Day.
My parents couldn't understand why I couldn't come home, to Lowestoft. Even if I had had a car, it would have been madness.
Unfortunately when I moved to Brighton they decided if I didn't go to them, then ..... Awful. An Accountant and his Wife could not get their heads around someone who had to work un-social [very, sometimes] and wanted a social life, in which they were not involved.
Rant over. Sorry.

Fortunately, I have no family to worry about. I count on my friends and it is much more relaxed.

The last thing we want at this time is more stress!
Keep away from family at all cost is my motto
unless they are very rich or very ill!

Shouldn't that be very rich AND very ill, Frank?
