 | Drugs? ® Cam (in the United Kingdom) 24 Dec 2001 at 23:31 GMT |
|
|
A nice new topic for Christmas.
What are people's experiences of recreational drugs?
I've smoked weed and didn't get on well with it, and I've taken E and loved it.
Any strong views for/against? Discussion welcomed!

smoked pot - but had no effect.
alcohol - now that's bad - no high, after-effects last for hours, and so expensive (unless you drink
at wetherspoons)

Tried weed, did nothing for me, and speed just gave me a headache. That's it really... We used to
smoke lots of joints at work, to numb the paaaain.

Agree on the alcohol, wilx!
Suiii, where on earth did you work that required weed to numb the pain?!?

Staples The Office Superstore
<sits in a corner and rocks>
We always said that if they ever introduced drug testing they'd think the samples were
contaminated, because 25 out 30ish would have tested positive!

lol!
I don't get on with weed at all, mind you I only smoke it when I'm really drunk so that's probably
why. Taking Ecstacy was the most fantastic feeling I have ever had, and it's a far cheaper night
out than drinking. I was a bit worried at first about dropping dead though.
|
 | Re: Drugs? ® Lynz (in the United Kingdom) 25 Dec 2001 at 00:06 GMT |

See, knowing my abysmal medical history I'd end up dropping dead after my first E.
Oh dear, why do I always end up talking to Evil Ex on Chrimble Eve?

Evil Ex? O dear. I think a lot of people have that problem.

I tried pot once, and thought it was vile. Mind you, I don't smoke anyway so that was probably a
factor.
Oh, and I've done a tab of LSD. That was pretty cool actually, but I'd never take it again. I was
told that the first one's the best, so i thought 'No point in trying it anymore then!'

I smoke a joint or two everyday, It chills me out and relaxes me.
I do coke when I can get it/afford it, I like this alot however the comedown is not quite so good.
E's I didn't like (head rush followed by unbeleivable nausea)
Special K just made me very drousey and stupid
Speed, I kind of liked but the comedown is harsh
coffee I couldn't live without, the same goes for chocolate and Jacky Daniels
Tobacco I've lived with for many years but I'm close to kicking it.

hehehe! how right you are. But then I can take coffee any way you want to give it, but tea? Oh that

I used to drink about three pints of coffee a day, but I gave up a year ago, I only drink it in
cafes occasionally now. I have taken to peppermint tea instead.

Whilst in America, the drink of choice in the summer was iced lemon tea which I thought was fab, A
while back Lipton Teas released Liptonice and I seemed to be the only person who liked it, it's
been discontinued now I think, however I found some in a corner shop a few months ago and bought
the shop keepers whole stock of 20 odd bottles.

have you seen the cans of coffee you can get now? you shake the can, which somehow heats up the
coffee. A good idea i suppose, but one thing worries me. There's a little part of the can with red
liquid in it. The instructions say something like 'shake the can until the red liquid disappears.
The drink is now ready'. But what is the red liquid, and more importantly, where does it go?!!

|
 | Re: Drugs? ® Cam (in the United Kingdom) 25 Dec 2001 at 20:58 GMT |
|
|
That really does sound a bit scary. I sort of liked the iced nescafe that came out a couple of years
ago.

mmmm, yes, that was nice, they sell it in motorway service stations for extortionate amounts of
money (along with anything else!)!!

It's not so much where does the red liquid go but where does the white gravely stuff come from, it
tastes okay but I find it mildly disturbing that we have come to a point where we have so little
free time we can't even spare 2 mins to make a cup of coffee.
The 60's dream future society with entire meals in pill form is getting worryingly closer day by
day.

Anon, you infinitesimal prick, when you finally finish Primary School and learn where and when to
use a comma you will be entitled to criticise me, until such time will you kindly crawl back under
your stone before you are squashed.
'perhaps you should stop burbling, bee, and start talking some sense for a change'
there should be no comma used at all and 'bee' should be capitalised.
Dickhead.

instant coffee - can't say where the liquid goes as I have not seen these cans but did you know that
this system of heating food/drinks has been used for years? In the armed forces, the shaking mixes
two chemicals together which causes the heating - they are in a separate compartment to the
edible/drinking stuff so no need to worry where it goes, it stays in the can.
As far as drugs goes, you may have read in another thread that one of my brothers had a drink
problem followed by a drugs problem. The full story is that due to the drug problem he has
contracted HIV. How he got to this stage was by initially going on soft drugs with the usual "I can
handle it - I'm in control of it not the other way round" - from there on to harder and harder
stuff, losing his job, stealing my car and selling it, etc etc so my advice is, just say no. Lots
of people can indeed handle it but lots more end up sooner or later falling foul of it. He did
detox, then rer-started god knows how many times.
The irony of it all is that since finding out he had HIV he did cold turkey, got a good job, a flat,
car etc. and is doing very well for himself now but...

In other words Jim he always was capable of handling it but it took a hell of a shock for him to
actually DO it...
All recreational drugs have risks as do most recreations - you can die of blood poisoning from
needlepoint for heaven's sake!
The key is 'know yourself' know your limits and know what it is your getting into.
Also if folk die drag racing or lugeing they did what they enjoy, they died having the rush they
craved. Please don't tell me that's not an addiction too.
I'm happy with non-addictives, coffee being the honourable exception - and not that instant shite
either.
By far the most serious problem with recreational drugs is their illegal status. Its impossible to
standardise purity and dosage, use gets hidden and the fear of discovery is the greatest
contributer to needless injury or death when things do go wrong.
I don't know if there are needle exchange programmes in the UK but they have worked extraordinarily
well here in Sydney. Our levels of HIV infection are amongst the lowest in the 'developed' world.
Moloch xxx
Oh and btw if the clubs and pubs you frequent have a blue light in the loo - that's to stop folk
finding a vein. It doesn't work. Complain to management and tell them to put in a sharps disposal
unit instead - they may just prevent some nasty injuries if they're sensible.

Enema, please don't give BeeBurble a kicking. I think he thought you were Anon, not Enema. I'm sure

I'm with Moloch on the drugs question.
As to the health risks, I am not convinced that Ecstacy and Speed are any more dangerous than
alcohol/tobacco.
As regards heroin and the like, I wouldn't go near them, those who do are asking for trouble.

I used to like e's alot, but now they seem to be getting less trippy (like very much) to more mongy
(hate) and there seem to be alot of very bad pills out there (green euro's for example), so now i
always try just half first before the night commences, Coke i used to really like, perhaps a little
too much so that had to stop, but alot of friends still take it and i dont really like what it does
to them i.e. talk shite all night at a very loud voice so i stick to speed, which also helps if you
have pills that want to floor you, it just takes the edge off a bit.
On the argument about drugs, i do have to agree with moloch, the reason there has been so many
deaths of late has to do not only with the quality of the drug (which if were legal could be
controlled) but also a lack of information about how to take the drug, I’ve always thought really
big clubs should have e testing kits available, but at the same time i have been to country’s were
most drugs were legal (well, legal to posses) and i dont think that works, it does attract the bad
side of life, I’ve seen both sides and still dont really know how to balance things.
I guess its up to your own individual tastes in life.

Firstly Cam is correct in assuming I had thought the message was from our resident cunt 'Anon'
You can however see how I'd reach that conclusion, an unnecessary and sarcastic criticism coming
from somebody called 'Anonymous' the 'festive enema' at the bottom is incidental (in that anyone
could have written it using the screen name of 'Anonymous')
In retrospect I can see a possible link between 'burbling' and my screen name, at the time however
(several large glasses of wine later) I was a little rash in my own sarcasm.
Secondly Enema, don't threaten me, sarcasm and insults I can take, online threats are rather
irrelevant and thereby more annoying, because of this I will not apologise for what I wrote but
simply admit to an error of judgement.
End of Subject... and a Happy New year.

The lamp is in the cupboard, which is where it will stay (probably forever) worst 200 francs I ever
spent, I did say the lamp was from France it was actually from Andora, the label was in french,
however the fuse plate thing, (whatever it was) may have been written in Catalan or something...
never mind.
Lighten up! me! how dare you, I couldn't be better lit, I radiate luminosity, if I got any lighter
i'd spontaneously combust.
