 | What r u doing on Christmas Day? G&T (in Australia) 19 Dec 2000 at 22:22 GMT |
|
|
Just thought I'd ask out of international, queeny curiosity. Both the Curate's parents and mine are
coming, plus his (dyke) aunt, and various other waifs and strays to a total of twelve people.
Mostly clergy - the poor sods have four to six services to take in a twenty-four hour period. On
the menu is a cold spread of ham, turkey, various salads, preceded by hot nibbles (Thai fishcakes,
Italian grilled vegetables, etc) and followed by a fruit course of melon balls and my mother
out-of-law's Christmas pudding. Then we roll downstairs for the Vicar's Christmas dinner at 4 in
the afternoon. The meteorologists are holding off on the weather predictions which probably mean
it's going to be over 30 degrees again.

Sadly, I shall have to suffer through several hours with my idiot brother-in-law and my sister. The
man has cancer and simply refuses to die! I am getting pissed off waiting. He's been dying for
years. Because of his presence I'm not laying on anything nice and hiding the good booze - I do not
want to make this a habit! So Christmas Day will be a test of civility. The idiot, my sister,
mother and aunt. We'll sit around looking at each other praying for phone calls from other members
of the family to break up the boredom of me looking at my watch wondering how long before I can
take them home. Grrrrrr!!!!

Delightful!
I will be recovering from severe alcohol poisoning, as per usual. Although I am technically banned
from drinking, by Herr Doktor, Christmas doesn't count, and on Chrimbly Eve myself and my lovely
best mate will drink until we're blind!! Roaring good fun!
