'tis indeed - have you got to the UKGML room yet? I'm in there far more often.

Certainly have! In fact, Dave, the organiser said before I got there that the UKGML room needs two things- a Craig Doyle thread, and Simon B. I was so touched! Far better than the new one.

Cello is an abbreviation for violoncello(not violincello). Some basses have a fifth string tuned to the B or C below the bottom E.

Hi harpie. I've currently got a very intermittent problem with the software and trying to pinpoint it is driving me crazy! To minimise any downtime, I'm doing my testing for this overnight (UK time) and during that period, the server may go down very occasionally for a short period. Last night however, it SHOULD only have been inoperable for a few mins at around 3am GMT. For a few hours before that (due to the problem I'm trying to find), things might have been a bit dodgy. Could you let me know at what time approx. you got this problem, and whether you're seeing this message for any prolonged periods or more than very occasionally during the day/evening?
Thanks, Dave

Dave - last night it went off @ 1.58am, but apparently came back @ 2.06am, but I'd given up by then!

This is weird - there's lots of messages been posted over the past 6 hours, so it's definitely working ok for most people. Have you tried pressing Reload with the Control key held down (Netscape) or Refresh with Shift held down (IE). If you still have problems after that, it might be worth you trying via our other web server in Canada - using address: http://24.112.160.248/gml/blue.htm

I've just taken a look at the web page which says 'Our server is out of action etc', and this was (wrongly) set up to be cacheable. In other words, once you browser has displayed this screen, it will store it in its own cache and may then subsequently keep displaying it from cache, instead of rechecking the internet. I've now changed this page to make it non-cacheable, so that this won't happen in future. But, if Control+Reload (for Netscape) or Shift+Refresh (for IE) doesn't do the trick, you may have to restart your browser, or empty your cache in order to get rid of the cached version which is currently stored.

Interestingly I checked just before shutting down after transferring my files and prefs to the laptop for the w/e's travels, and it worked ok. I do actually clear the disk cache fairly frequently, depending where I've been!

And me! So desperate to hang on to the past, and to past glories of threads going into three figure entries and pissing people off. Merry Christmas to all who still frequent this run down, tired and much lamented Blue Room.
