i know im ranting again but i just wanna know am i the only person who finds both these er er er people not funny in any way shape or form?

I agree with you in regards to Ricky Gerbil-Face, (good name! ;) winking/tongue in cheek ), but Harry Hill is one of those comedians who just does not transfer to television (as Eddie Izzard does not) - if you ever get the chance to see him live (and I do mean live - not some video or DVD) I suspect you may change your opinion because he is bloody hilarious!
In fact, when I went to see him, I almost had to leave at one point because my sides were hurting so bad.

About this year's awards in general though - God, it was awful!
It used to be one of the highlights of my year because you could guarantee it would be almost as funny as the folk they were handing out the awards to - but perhaps it is just a true reflection of the day's comedy, as this year it was just as unfunny as the people they were handing out the awards to.
So this year I gave up at 10pm to watch the program on MR Jones and subsequent play... and fell asleep. :, smirking

Harry Hill is the best IMHO - anyone else think Gervais is a closet case?

I can't stand either Harry Hill or Ricky whatisface, and half the nominees I'd never heard of.

I have seen Harry Hill live and I must admit he did really make me laugh out loud, as for the other chap, I have never been able to understand the fuss, he does nothing for me.

No, Ricky is str8 and been with GF for 22 years.

As for the comedy awards well Little Britain is funny, but the problem was too many women got awards (French and Saunders, Catherine Tate, Julie Davis from Nighty Night, Carolyn Quentin) and well women are just not funny. When Ricky Gervais made a speech he was spontanious and witty, when women make speaches its either rehearsed ala Saunders or the women blather on about "i just can't beleive ive won)

Not all women are unfunny.
Our very own Suiii used to make me crease up almost everyday when she posted here regular.
As for famous examples then I think French & Saunders can be hilarious as a double act but rarely hit the same heights with their solo work, and Victoria Wood has been a towering beacon for women for years! :) smiling/happy/joking

"Women are just not funny"????? Unnutterable crap.

I saw Joan Rivers on stage a month or so back and laughed so much I was in physical pain.

When she's on form Jo Brand is hilarious.

Gerbil-face's speech did not strike me as either spontaneous or witty, rather as well-rehearsed and smug.

Apart from anything else, two of the three awards you mention were only open to women. You can argue the rights and wrongs of having separate "best actor" and "best actress" awards if you like but that is irrelevant to these choices.
