With forecasters certain of snow falling somewhere on Christmas Day, bookmaker Ladbrokes closed its book on a white Christmas, while William Hill said it had taken a record £250,000 in bets.

Starting to cloud over a bit here Wilf but still fairly mild. He should be OK for this stretch of the journey at least.

It's raining hard in Derbyshire; snow forecast for later.. I reckon John will be OK, Wilf. It looks as though the worst of the weather is in the North and West.

It's looking grey and wet outside.
No sign of any snow yet though.

Horrible, horrible rain in Manchester. We went into town on the train, and then came home again. Awful.
We will probably be in the Rembrandt later.

Never mind, luves, the weather here is in safe hands with the meltingly gorgeous Alex Deakin at the BBC helm! Only wish he'd rain down on me. Ah, Alex, sigh......to see you stiff with , not cold, but heat of love making passion.

We did get snow and ice, so much so that I ended up slipping on a hill when I was walking Roxy, twisting my right leg around and behind me, hearing a 'pop' noise and standing for hours in casualty. Turns out I had torn my ligaments in my right knee and have to stay off work until next Thursday. I am supposed to use crutches to get about but can't get the hang of them. I needed the rest though. And thankfully it doesn't hurt much when I am still.

I've no doubt you do need the rest, Dylan - be sure you take all you can get. And get the hang of those crutches - knee injuries can be nasty if agravated.
Wishing you a speedy recovery {{{{{{Dylan}}}}}}

Oh Dylan, you poor thing, ouch! I do hope that you make a speedy recovery. Boatman used to 'coach' badminton, and he did his knee badly, smashed the cartilage(sp?) and had to have an op, so he can feel for you ((((((Dylan))))))
Hope all goes well with your operation ((((((Jim))))))

Dylan - here's to a speedy recovery...
Jim - all the best for your operation...
I have had hip/upper thigh pain for the past few days, so I am going to see the doctor tomorrow...

Oh guys - poor you. I live in fear of the knife. I'm keeping a good thought for you both.
Now, River, I love the idea of Boatman as a batminton coach. What exactly is the uniform? Do they have a union? Did he have to wear protective clothing? What kind of pep screaming do you do from the sidelines? "Spike it! Spike it! Spike it you little #$#@!"
