Ena Sharples coming back to the street
® TisFrank (in the United Kingdom) 15 Oct 2004 at 10:39 GMT

Yes folks Ena is coming back to the street

a spokesman said "We are going to dig here up and
just prop her open coffin up by the bar, nobody will notice!"

Coffin? But Ena never died. She's still alive and well and living in Lytham St Anne's.

At a 117 years of age, poor bugger, even her hairnet has perished.

Don't be silly Frank, she is still alive, didn't you read what Minnie said, She is still housekeeping in St. Anns, true she is now fitted with casters so she can be pulled around, poor soul. Ena was modelled on my Great Aunt Gertrude, don't you know.

I suspect that Blanche now gets the lines that once would have been Ena's.

Much as Jack & Vera are Hilda & Stan.
And Liz is (kind of) Elsie Tanner.
And Charlie would like to be Len Fairclough.

Ena was exceptionally bovine, though the language she could use back then was less (erm) colourful than Blanche can get away with now.

Tracy is post-EastEnders Corrie, and modelled, I suspect, on the likes of Janine.

she's such a breathtaking bitch, you know she'll have to get her comeuppance otherwise it'll feel like there's no natural justice in the world and that would be depressing. mind you, she always bounces straight back.

Morally she needs hammering, but is there that much entertainment factor in seeing her beaten or broken ? Goodness is so dramatically debilitating.

but don't you sometimes want her to just have a quick flash of goodness? a moment of realisation? i find the constant badness depressing. but then rehabilitated characters do become dull. the bill has never been the same without the sheer madness that was cathy bradford.

I like Tracy's bared-facedness, or hard-facedness, or is it a bit of both.

And yes, Cathy Bradford is still sorely missed - though it was a shared delight in her that first got us wittering on about TV together, Pood, no doubt to the annotance of several others !

she is audacious, i will give her that. i do want to boo every time she comes on screen.

gabriel kent isn't half the villan that cathy was. i think todd carthy isn't half the actor.

yes, i'm sure we're reviled for it, but do we care?

We do not.

Todd C has got better, I think - he was pretty scary menacing Kerry a while back. When they finally rumble him, I do hope it's Gina that gets to preside over his downfall. She is to sarcasm what Cantona was to football.

i find him about as menacing as a tea bag. also, i can't understand why june hasn't blown the whistle on him, after all, he stands to lose far more than she does.

we were highly amused by kerry's sudden perceptiveness and ability to be in the right place at the right time last week. and gina gold is a goddess. "go home, you're pissing me off"
