hi,
are the central london saunas any good during weekday afternoons?
now xmas is here, work is a bit slow and i want to slope off, but don't know if its really any good or not.
looking for hot city boys in their little white towels
advice welcome.

Now, could someone please explain what actually takes place in these saunas. I apologise for my ignorance and recognise that it probably doesn't take a lot of imagination to work out but this is one aspect of gay life/culture I fail to understand. Do you just stand/sit there looking at one anothers naked bodies? Now what if someone really obese? Or like me, lacks large pectorals? I just don't understand. Please explain.

well basically clinton, there are all kinds of different guys who go there. cute chickens to muscle mary's to grandpas.. you name it.
the main objective is normally to cop-off in a 'rest room' but i quite like going to relax and sit in the steam rooms and just have a little time to myself.
if there happens to be a cute lad who catches my eye, then i may go sit next to them, and see if any flirting takes place, and then wander off with him for a bit of fun.
then you can have a nice cup of tea or coffee or cold juice and watch the tv and chat for a bit while you get your energy back and either go back for more, or shower off and call it a day.
easy huh
now - can anyone answer my question in the first posting?

Clinton, I had my first visit to a sauna recently. It's nothing to worry about at all and the whole thing is hilarious. There are lots of people of all shapes and sizes sitting around looking vacant, so if you're not sure what to do, just sit around and do what the others do. You will find there is a sauna room, a steam room and a jacuzzi. The sauna room is far too hot for comfort, and certainly too hot to do anything in, and it's pitch dark, so there's not much point going in there. Things do happen in the steam room, but you can't see anything; it's a guessing game, trying to tell if the shape sitting next to you is young, and therefore worth groping, or old. If you do something with someone in the steam room you may get a nasty shock when you see them outside it afterwards. The jacuzzi is the best bet because you can actually see the other people. Expect lots of groping and fumbling, but not necessarily anything very heavy. I found the experience completely hysterical. You may find it difficult not to laugh out loud (no one says anything -- they dart around silently like rabbits). Treat it as a huge joke and you'll have a great time.

When I say I've had my first visit recently, I actually mean my first and second visits, both within the last ten days. A nice blond lad asked me to go to a rest room and I declined because I had only just arrived and wanted to spin everything out. Damn!

yes it is quite amusing - but just go, enjoy the relaxation time and if any more cute blond boys ask you to take a walk with them don't think twice - they won't ask again

Dave, I went first to the one in Edinburgh and then to Nero's in Bury Lancs. Nero's was a bit quiet because they were having their Christmas party and most of the people there were eating rubber chicken and pulling crackers in the dining room rather than making use of the other facilities. But it was still worthwhile. I am thinking of going to the Edinburgh one again at the weekend.
Does anyone know what H20 Zone in Manchester is like? Of of any other good ones in the north?

I went to H2O on a Sat night - seems like the best time. Just watch the cleaners - they seem to have a fetish for putting neat bleach in the jacuzzi

I have been told that Sunday afternoons are a very good time. Maybe there should be a BR Saunas-of-London tour at some point, followed by a Saunas-of-the-North tour?

In most saunas Sun PM is a busy time frequently - it's just that there are too many old wrinklies out for a bit of young(er than them) cock
