I fell in love with this guy from college. I have just learnt that he is gay. He seems to ignore me though. Anyone has any suggestion what to do next?

When I fancy someone I'm afraid to look at them or talk to them. I've actually had blokes smile or try to make an effort with me but I just look away or look really miserable because I'm so nervous and don't know whether they are being friendly or gay (or both!). This immediately translates to them. How do you know he isn't the same? At least you could start a friendship - you've already got something in common! Just start by asking what music he likes; what he's doing that night etc in a casual manner. Try to give off the right vibes and be yourself. Don't be nervous otherwise he'll pick up on it and it will make him nervous - a sure turn off.

I think you're being paranoid. Repulsed? Are you that ugly? Then why would he smile at you in the first place. As I say perhaps he is nervous. Also, you don't know what else is going on in his life. Try talking to him - pick the right moment. Yes I know it's difficult but don't hang around. Grab the moment while it's there. I've got too many regrets in this area - my advice is: GO DO IT!!!!

Bluemoon, trust me, as someone who only just graduated, I can confirm that seeing someone is no burden when studying.
Socialising at uni can become a very stale and repetitive affair and any new input is good, especially if it gives the stability and support of a relationship. I work for my old uni now and when I talk to the students and hear their problems, the last of their worries is the effect of a boyf on their studies.
