I hate to admit my ignorance, but can anybody tell me exactly what Dental Dams are, and what you do with them? Cheers

Sheet of plastic dentists use to isolate a tooth sometimes. Guess in safer sex books you are supposed to use them to provide a barrier between you and something you might want to lick. Rimming for example. Also I once read that lesbians and st8 folks can use them for eating for cunnilingus though I don't know.
Personally, I don't even know why dentists use them and the idea is silly sounding, so just keep your tongue in your mouth.

Dental dams are big flat squares of latex, for oral to prevent transmission of STDs through mouth ulcers, cuts etc etc, they taste revolting and induce giggling fits (in me anyway - woman pulled one out on me once and I nearly got a hernia laughing).......ahem.....

So, you mean its just a flat square of latex, yes? How thick is it? Surely neither you or your partner can feel a thing through it!! Or is it really thin? So how could a dentist use it to 'isolate a tooth', if there's no hole in it? Bear with me, I'm not usually this ignorant......

Quite thin, not much loss of sensation, but it feels so silly licking a piece of latex....
