 | Who had a kewl xmas? Housman 29 Dec 1999 at 17:10 GMT |

Christmas grub that I didn't have to cook; an endless supply of Christmas booze; old pals that I haven't seen in years; four days off work; jack frost nipping at my chestnuts etc. Who else had a really good Christmas?

Housman this is not pedantry but curiosity - have I missed out on some cultural referent? - why is 'kewl' spelled this way by many people in the last few weeks? I would not describe my Christmas as 'kewl', rather 'acceptable'.

I've no idea Peter, I'm as curious as you are. I only saw it spelt this way on one other occaision and then I thought it referred to a member of Westlife being named Kewl. When I finally got it I found it quite amusing and now use it to try and give myself a personality.

I had an excelent Christmas...really laid back and relaxed, total change!
I guess Its spelled Kewl coz it's cool to do so at the moment (it can also be spelled Kule) part of the technology stuff thats going on is a move towards phonetics (which I cant spell)its becoming less important to spell a word right usually coz it's easier to type a word as it sounds than to think about spelling. Anyway thats really boring (sorry) hope everyone has a great New Year!!

We had a good Christmas too - just the two of us at home. We both spent FAR too much on each other's pressies too - as usual! We always set a budget, and always end up at least double it!
